Located amidst the serene landscapes of Rhode Island, Miniature Cows Ranch is a sanctuary dedicated to the care and nurture of miniature cows. Founded by Joe Smith, our ranch began as a heartfelt endeavor to provide a loving home for these adorable creatures. Joe’s journey into the world of mini cows was sparked by a chance encounter with these charming bovines. Enthralled by their gentle demeanor and irresistible appeal, Joe embarked on a mission to establish a sanctuary where miniature cows could thrive.
At Miniature Cows Ranch, our mission is to ensure the well-being of our miniature cows while raising awareness about these unique animals. We prioritize ethical and sustainable practices, providing our residents with spacious pastures, comfortable shelter, and nutritious food tailored to their needs. Our commitment to transparency and integrity distinguishes us from other cattle ranches. Visitors can trust that our mini cows are raised with care and attention to detail, reflecting our dedication to their welfare.
Unity in Diversity
Miniature cattle are great for small acreages. They can be anywhere to 1/2 or even 1/3 the size of standard cattle, so, therefore, require less feed and land. We encourage the ration of one miniature cow per ½ to 1-acre grass with good quality hay during the winter months.
Mini Scottish Highlands are a very hardy breed of cattle that can withstand harsh cold temperatures in the winter and hot temperatures in the summer with adequate shade and water. They tend to be docile and calm, especially the more you work with and handle them. They can make great outdoor companions, show cattle, or home-raised beef.
IMPORTANT NOTICE: Miniature Cow Ranch always retains the option for first pick of any babies as or when needed to continue the breeding lines and to continue the breeding program. No, I don’t always keep a calf from every litter, but it’s important that if I ever did need to replace an adult mini cow, that I can pull a calf from my own tried tested and true lines before introducing new lines from other breeders.
